Evening Girls, Guys and Non-Binary Persons
Today on SKIN EDUCATION we are talking about issues related to skin texture and how to improve the appearance of your skin, of course I'll be dropping products as well.
Firstly, what is skin texture????

Texture is the look and feel of your skin, what we aim for is healthy, dewy, hydrated and smooth skin. This isn't always easy to achieve especially with oily skin which is susceptible to clogged pores or even with dry skin which seems to be rough and often dehydrated looking. That is why skin texture is a problem we all suffer with, well look no further for Bats is here to help.
The remedy for smoother looking skin isn't a one size fits all but after extensive research I may have found the remedy which will be able to assist each and every skin type.
1. Firstly exfoliating your skin.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub (The Body Shop, R115.00)

Exfoliating your skin with a physical scrub will help in removing dead skin cells, you can always trust the body shop to formulate gentle products. It is very important to note that easy and gentle wins the race (and saves you from mirco-tears) the reason I love this product so much is that it contains Tea Tree oil which is known to be deadly on whiteheads and blackheads.
2. Chemical Peels

Loreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Peel Pads (Dischem, R350)
Another form of exfoliation is a chemical one, I know this sounds pretty terrifying but the truth is scrubs are a form of physical exfoliation whereas liquid exfoliation is refereed to as chemical peels. These can be used every single day but always back it up with sunscreen in the morning, it makes your skin extremely sensitive to the sun. These L'Oreal peel pads are pre-soaked in glycolic acid, this product should be used as a toner and followed by a serum, moisturzier and facial oil to lock in all the products. I personally lean towards chemical exfoliants due to the zero chance of tearing your own skin with a scrub. The Loreal pads are packed full with 9.6% glycolic acid. Your complexion will thank you later.
3. Incorporating Oil

Soil Organic Rosehip Oil (Dischem, R101.00)
Incorporating an oil into your skin regiment is probably one of the most life saving things you could do for your skin. Firstly because blackheads literally disappear once you start using oils. They lock the moisture inside the skin and keep you extremely hydrated. Note that rosehip oil is natures vitamin c therefore it assists with hyper-pigmentation and regulating your sebum production. Whether oily or dry, an oil is always a good idea!
4.Vitamin C

Neutriherbs vitamin c + Hylauronic acid serum (Makro Online, R259.00)
Adding vitamin C to your morning routine can smoothen out that skin texture like a baby's bum. The secret is that vitamin C is an anti-oxidant, meaning it repairs skin, defends against pollution, ant-ageing, keeps it supple as ever and fades sun spots. This vitamin c serum from Neutriherbs finally found its way to the streets of South Africa and we couldn't be more excited its packed full of hyaluronic acid meaning it will keep you hydrated and lush while also refining your skin texture. Don't forget to lock it down with a moisturizer followed by a sunscreen with spf 30 or above.

Cetaphil Sunscreen spf 50 (Dischem R236)
I shouldn't be telling anyone above the age of 12 why sunscreen is a NEED. If you don't want to look 50 at 50 I'd start using sunscreen. Sunscreen is the last step of your skincare regiment. In terms of pores looking smaller, wrinkles being non-existent and hyper-pigmentation being a thing of yesterday use sunscreen. My favorite is from Cetaphil because of the size of the bottle and also the UVB protection. It's important to note that if you are of a darker skin tone this may not be the right sunscreen for you based on the fact that it does leave a visible white caste at first, but dissolves later. This product is makeup friendly.
Please note that your skin sheds every 30 days therefore results will take time to visibly show, be patient and kind to your skin and yourself. Always remember that skin care is self-care therefore it should be an enjoyable time filled with relaxation and zen energy.
