What is My Skin Type?
One of the major problems which arise in skin and overall skincare is not knowing what your skin type is, the common skincare problems are prevalent because of not caring for your specific skin type, on this specific post I will be assisting you in discovering your skin type, how to care for it and what products to avoid.
firstly let's talk about how to find out what skin type you are. The one method I like to use is the caveman method (for one night only). The caveman method is simply rinsing your face with water only and going to bed without applying any product, the next morning if your skin is dry and sensitive to the touch then you have a dry skin type. waking up with greasy skin all over means your skin type is oily and waking up with dry cheeks and an oily T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) means your skin is combination. It's as simple as that.

Now we move on to the care of your face,
Dry: Dry skin is almost always sensitive skin, this skin type should always be moisturized with creams and oils. I recommend Elizabeth Arden Skin Refining Cream and Cetaphil Dry Skin Night Cream (Clicks and Edgars)

Oily: Your first instinct may be not to moisturize and steer clear of oil, but it is of paramount importance that you moisturize and double cleanse. Oily skin is due to an increase in sebum oils which is the natural oils produced by your pores, if your skin is dry your pores will produce these sebum oils to combat the dryness. Sebum is comedogenic which will cause acne. If your skin is effectively moisturized and cleansed your skin won't produce any sebum. A double cleanse in the evening is perfect for gals and guys who wear makeup, the oil breaks up the makeup and then you can follow through with a foam-based cleanser or any cleanser which includes salicylic acid. I recommend 'Clean 'n' Clear oil-free moisturizer' and 'Cetaphil acne-prone foam cleanser' (Clicks and Dischem).

Combination: this skin type can often be hard to care for but I like to lean into an oily skincare regiment if you are a combination skin type. therefore double cleansing and extra care to the cheeks for moisturization is a must. I recommend a light but hydrating moisturizer like Neutrogena hydro boost water gel and Soil grapeseed oil as a moisturizer.

Bare in mind that SPF is a must for all skin types as this combats the signs of ageing, skin texture and skin cancer. Everybody regardless of skin tone or ethnicity should be wearing SPF (sunscreen) in the morning whether winter or summer.
